House of Representatives declined to seat Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., pending
investigation of his behavior. 11 Lani Bird II (aka Intelsat II F-2), a communications satellite, was launched at Cape Kennedy, Florida. 13 Togolese President Nicolas Grunitzky was deposed in a military coup led by Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Étienne Eyadéma. 14 About 20,000 people participated in the Human Be-In in San Francisco, California. 16 Lynden O.
