President Johnson Becomes a Grandfather for the
First Time President Lyndon Johnson became a grandfather on June 21, 1967, when 8-pound 10-ounce Patrick Lyndon Nugent was born to his youngest daughter Luci and her husband Patrick Nugent, in Houston, Texas. Between sessions of talks with Soviet Premier Aleksei N. Kosygin at Glassboro, New Jersey, on June 23 and 25, the President flew to Los Angeles, California, to make a speech and then to Texas to see the baby. After the Glassboro meetings, he returned to his Texas ranch to celebrate Luci's 20th birthday, and attended his grandson's christening at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Stonewall, Texas.
