Jim Woodruff Dam

a hydroelectric dam on the Appalachian River in Florida

The Jim Woodruff Dam is located just south of the confluence of the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers. The dam, lock, and hydroelectric plant are all located entirely in Florida, but almost all of Lake Seminole, which was created by the dam, is in Georgia. Construction of the dam and hydroelectric plant began in 1946 and was completed in 1957. It is named for Georgia businessman James W. Woodruff, who spearheaded the economic development of the region.
