Fax Machine, 1961 In this picture, the message being sent at the right is received by the woman on the left. The message is slipped on a rotating cylinder and scanned by a photoelectric cell. The light and dark parts of the message are turned into electric currents, which are then sent by radio beam to the receiving unit, where the electrical impulses operate needles which write the message on dry recording paper at the rate of 3,000 words a minute. |
