 White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) One of the largest land animals on Earth, the white rhinoceros is 11 to 14 feet long, not counting its 20-28-inch tail, stands 5-6 feet at the shoulder, and weighs 3,000-8,000 pounds; males are larger than females. Despite its name, it is actually light gray to dark yellow in color. |
 The Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) is slightly smaller than the white rhinoceros, but is more easily distinguished by its pointed, prehensile upper lip, which it uses to browse for twigs, leaves, fruits, and other plant materials. Extensively hunted for its horns, it is listed as critically endangered. |
Asiatic Wild Ass (Equus hemionus) Wild asses are found from the Black Sea to the Yellow River in China, but over half of the world's total population is in southern Mongolia. They are endangered throughout their range, with those populations outside of Mongolia being on the verge of extinction. |
Plains Zebra (Equus quagga) Also known as the Common Zebra and Burchell's Zebra, this is the most familiar of the three zebra species. It has relatively broad black stripes that run horizontally towards the back and vertically towards the front, meeting in a triangle in the middle of the body. |
