Caroline Louise Marguerite Grimaldi was born in Monte Carlo, Monaco on January 23, 1957, the first child of Prince Rainier and Princess Grace.

On June 28, 1978, Princess Caroline married Philippe Junot, a 38-year-old Paris businessman. The civil ceremony took place in the palace throne room. After the nuptial mass, celebrated the following day, the newlyweds walked through the streets of old Monte Carlo. Before leaving for their honeymoon at Papeete, Tahiti, the couple attended a luncheon for friends of the family, including many show business personalities.
