William IV
reigned as King of the United Kingdom from June 26, 1830
to June 20, 1837. Just shy of his 65th birthday at the
time of his ascension, he was the oldest person to date
ever to assume the British throne. His reign was marked
by two parliamentary crises, one of which resulted from
his attempt to impose an unpopular ministry on the
majority in Parliament.
Charles Grey, 2nd
Earl Grey
spent most of his political career unsuccessfully pushing
for parliamentary reform. He finally achieved his goal
after being named Prime Minister in 1830.
