Afghanistan in 1971 A severe drought forced dealers in Kabul to sell sheep at one-tenth their former value. Afghan officials estimated that as many as 70 percent of the nation's 22,000,000 sheep were lost during the year due to the drought, which also affected other areas of the economy. SEE ALSO |
