The Flag of Liberia
The eleven horizontal stripes represent
the eleven signers of the Liberian Declaration of
Independence and the Constitution of the Republic of
Liberia. The five-pointed white star depicts Liberia as
the first "independent republic" on the
continent of Africa.

Liberian history. At the time of his death, Liberia had
the largest mercantile fleet in the world, hosted the
world's largest rubber plantation and latex factory, was
Africa's main exporter of iron ore, and had attracted
more than $1 billion of foreign investments.
