Rikers Island Parolees

Prisoners who rescued passengers from an airplane crash on Rikers Island, New York, February 1, 1957, prepare to leave the island jail on March 8, having been granted early releases in thanks for their efforts. Twenty-seven other prisoners received reduced sentences for their rescue work.
