The Nobel Prize for Chemistry The Royal
Swedish Academy of Sciences is responsible for the
selection of the Nobel Laureates in Chemistry.
The medal represents Nature in the form a goddess
representing Isis emerging from the clouds and holding in
her arms a cornucopia. The veil which covers her cold and
austere face is held up by the Genius of Science. The
inscription reads: Inventas vitam juvat excoluisse
per artes, which translates to "inventions
enhance life which is beautified through art." The
medal was designed by Erik Lindberg, and is the same as
that given to winners of the Nobel
Prize for Physics.
