Manx Besides taillessness, the Manx is known for its round head with large round eyes, short back, broad, round rear end, short front legs, and long hind legs. A very intelligent breed, the Manx can actually be taught to do tricks. It is also unusual for its love of water, and it is not uncommon to catch a Manx turning on faucets or "fishing" in a sink full of water. |
Persian The exact origins of the Persian breed are unknown, but hieroglyphic references to similar-looking cats in the Middle East date back to as early as 1684 B.C. The most common story surrounding the breed's introduction to Europe says that Italian nobleman Pietro della Valle purchased four pairs in a Persian bazaar in 1620 and brought them home. |
Siamese This very distinctive-looking cat has a triangular-shaped face, with tall ears set on the head to be a continuation of this triangle. Coloration is this cat's other distinguishing feature. According to legend, Siamese cats were valued by the King of Siam for their exquisite beauty, as well as for their guardian ability. |
